Vāmana’s Advent, Aditi’s Hymn, Bali’s Gift, and the Mahatmya of Bhū-dāna
Shri Bhagavan (the Lord)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents the Purāṇic principle that sincere tapas offered as worship brings the Lord’s direct approval, turning prolonged suffering into assured auspicious results by divine grace.
Tapas here functions as ārādhana (devotional propitiation): the devotee’s endurance and single-minded worship culminate in the Lord’s prasāda (favor) and a promise of welfare.
The verse emphasizes ritual-spiritual discipline (tapas as a regulated practice) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; it supports the broader Vedic framework where disciplined observance and intention (saṅkalpa) lead to results.
