Adhyaya 50 — Mind-Born Progeny, Svayambhuva Manu’s Lineage, and Brahmā’s Ordinance to Duḥsaha (Alakṣmī’s Retinue)
ससर्ज कन्यास्तासाञ्च सम्यङ्नामानि मे शृणु ।
श्रद्धा लक्ष्मीर्धृतिस्तुष्टिः पुष्टिर्मेधा क्रिया तथा ॥
sasarja kanyās tāsāñ ca samyaṅ-nāmāni me śṛṇu | śraddhā lakṣmīr dhṛtis tuṣṭiḥ puṣṭir medhā kriyā tathā ||
彼は娘たちを生み出した。われよりその正しき名を聞け――シュラッダー(Śraddhā)、ラクシュミー(Lakṣmī)、ドゥリティ(Dhṛti)、トゥシュティ(Tuṣṭi)、プシュティ(Puṣṭi)、メーダー(Medhā)、そしてクリヤー(Kriyā)である。
Virtues and auspicious capacities are presented as primordial ‘daughters’—suggesting that faith, prosperity, steadiness, contentment, nourishment, intelligence, and right action are foundational supports of dharma and society.
