Adhyaya 35 — Madālasa’s Instruction on Purity, Impurity, and Corrective Rites (Śauca and Aśauca)
तत्तद् गुणवते देयं तदेवाक्षयमिच्छता ।
पूर्णैस्तु दिवसैः स्पृष्ट्वा सलिलं वाहनायुधम् ॥
tattad guṇavate deyaṃ tadevākṣayam icchatā /
pūrṇais tu divasaiḥ spṛṣṭvā salilaṃ vāhanāyudham
そのような布施は、受けるに足る者に与えるべきである。不滅の功徳(akṣaya)を求める者にとって、それのみが尽きることなく増す。さらに、定められた日数が満ちた後、水に触れて浄め(ācamana)、乗り物と武器を再び用いてよい。

Merit depends not only on giving but on discernment: gifts placed in worthy hands become ‘akṣaya’—socially fruitful and spiritually enduring.
