सीधुपानेन चाल्पेन तुष्ट्याथ मदनेन च | विलासनैश्व विविधै: प्रेक्षणीयतराभवत्,वह अल्प सुरापानसे, संतोषसे, कामसे और नाना प्रकारकी विलासिताओंसे युक्त होनेके कारण अत्यन्त दर्शनीय हो रही थी
sīdhupānena cālpena tuṣṭyātha madanena ca | vilāsanaiś ca vividhaiḥ prekṣaṇīyatarābhavat ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。甘い酒をほんの少し口にし、満ち足りた心と欲のさざめき、そしてさまざまな戯れの趣向に彩られて、彼女はいよいよ人目を奪う姿となった。この偈は、享楽と官能が外なる魅力を高めうる一方で、酔いと情欲がもつ道義的に曖昧な引力を物語の場にほのめかしている。
