सा त्वं दर्प परित्यज्य दम्भं मानं च भाविनि । आराध्य वरदं विप्र॑ श्रेयसा योक्ष्यसे पृथे,“सुन्दर भाववाली पृथे! तुम दर्प, दम्भ और मानको त्यागकर यदि इन वरदायक ब्राह्मणकी आराधना करोगी तो परम कल्याणकी भागिनी होओगी
sā tvaṁ darpa-parityajya dambhaṁ mānaṁ ca bhāvini | ārādhya varadaṁ vipraṁ śreyasā yokṣyase pṛthe ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「高き心根を備えたるプṛターよ、驕りと虚飾と自負を捨てよ。この恩寵を授けるブラーフマナを敬い仕えるなら、汝は至上の善と結ばれるであろう。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches that inner purification—abandoning arrogance (darpa), hypocrisy (dambha), and conceit (māna)—is essential for attaining śreyas (the highest good). Reverent service to a worthy brāhmaṇa is presented as a dharmic means to spiritual welfare.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Pṛthā (Kuntī), advising her to renounce prideful traits and to propitiate a boon-giving brāhmaṇa. The statement frames her future well-being as dependent on humility and proper reverence toward a spiritually potent figure.
