कुन्तीगर्भगोपनम् तथा मञ्जूषाप्रवाहः

Kuntī’s concealed childbirth and the river-borne casket

जहीमान्‌ राक्षसान्‌ पापानात्मन: प्रतिरूपकान्‌ | जघान रामस्तांश्वान्यानात्मन: प्रतिरूपकान्‌,“भगवन्‌! अपने ही समान आकारवाले इन पापी राक्षसोंको मार डालिये।” तब श्रीरामने रावणकी मायासे निर्मित अपने ही समान रूप धारण करनेवाले उन सबको तथा अन्य राक्षसोंको भी मार डाला

mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | jahīmān rākṣasān pāpān ātmanaḥ pratirūpakān | jaghāna rāmas tāṁś cānyān ātmanaḥ pratirūpakān |

マールカンデーヤは語った。「『この罪深き羅刹どもは、あなたに似た姿を取っております。討ち滅ぼしなさい。』」そこでラーマは、ラーヴァナの幻術によって自らと同じ姿を帯びた者どもをことごとく斬り伏せ、さらに他の羅刹たちも討ち取った。この出来事は、ダルマの力が欺きを貫かねばならぬことを示す。悪が正しき者を装い、人心を惑わせ気力を挫こうとするとき、明晰な見極めと断乎たる行いで応じるべきなのである。

Adharma often advances through disguise and imitation; therefore dharmic action requires viveka (discernment) and firmness. When evil adopts the appearance of the good to create confusion, it should be confronted and removed without hesitation.

Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that Rāma is urged to kill rākṣasas who have taken on forms identical to his own. These are creations of Rāvaṇa’s māyā meant to mislead; Rāma destroys them and the remaining rākṣasas as well.
