Dyumatsena’s Restoration and Sāvitrī’s Disclosure of Yama’s Boons (आरण्यकपर्व, अध्याय २८२)
सीते पर्याप्तमेतावत् कृतो भर्तुरनुग्रह: । प्रसादं कुरु तन्वज्ञि क्रियतां परिकर्म ते,'सीते! आजतक तुमने जो अपने पतिपर इतना अनुग्रह दिखाया, यह बहुत हुआ। तन्वंगि! अब मुझपर कृपा करो, जिससे तुम्हें शृंगार धारण कराया जाय
sīte paryāptam etāvat kṛto bhartur anugrahaḥ | prasādaṃ kuru tanvaṅgi kriyatāṃ parikarma te ||
「シーターよ、もうよい——夫に注いだ恩寵と献身はそれで十分だ。細き肢の女よ、今度は我にも慈しみを示せ。そなたの身支度と装いを整えさせよう。」
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights a social-ethical ideal of measured devotion: Sītā’s loyalty to her husband is acknowledged as complete, and she is urged to extend graciousness in another context as well—suggesting that dharma includes balance, propriety, and responsiveness to rightful requests.
Mārkaṇḍeya addresses Sītā directly, praising that she has already shown ample favor toward her husband, and then requests her consent or cooperation so that her personal preparation/adornment (parikarma) may be performed.
