The verse highlights the ethical power of sakhya (friendship/alliance) grounded in prior dialogue and trust. Righteous aims are best pursued through respectful communication and mutually supportive partnerships rather than isolated force.
After an initial conversation, the two brothers (Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa) approach Sugrīva. Rāma then forms a formal friendship/alliance with Sugrīva, the monkey-king, establishing cooperation for the tasks ahead.
