Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic restraint in hardship: the Pāṇḍavas sustain themselves on medhya (pure) foods—fruits and honey—implicitly emphasizing non-violent, ethically obtained sustenance and disciplined living during exile.

Vaiśampāyana describes the Pāṇḍavas residing on the Himalayan slopes, living off forest provisions—edible fruits and different kinds of honey—showing their continued endurance and orderly life while dwelling in the wilderness.
