Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)
इति श्रीमहाभारते आरण्यके पर्वणि यक्षयुद्धपर्वणि गन्धमादनप्रवेशे अष्टपपञज्चाशदधिकशततमो< ध्याय:,इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत वनपर्वके अन्तर्गत यक्षयुद्धपर्वमें गन््धमादनप्रवेशविषयक एक सौ अद्वावनवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ
iti śrīmahābhārate āraṇyake parvaṇi yakṣayuddhaparvaṇi gandhamādanapraveśe aṣṭapañcāśad-adhika-śatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ |
かくして『聖マハーバーラタ』において、ヴァナ・パルヴァ(森林篇)のアーラニヤカ部に属し、ヤクシャ(夜叉)との戦いをめぐる小挿話のうち、「ガンダマーダナ(Gandhamādana)入山」の章は終わりを告げ、このアドヒャーヤ(adhyāya)は完結した。章末の詞(コロフォン)は物語の転換を示し、非人の存在との邂逅が、荒野の森において自制・勇気・そしてダルマ(dharma)への遵守を試すという、より大きな道徳的地平の中に出来事を位置づけている。
वैशग्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the verse itself teaches indirectly: it situates the episode within the epic’s moral architecture, reminding the reader that wilderness trials—especially confrontations with powerful non-human beings—are arenas for testing dharma, self-control, and right conduct rather than mere displays of force.
This is the formal closing line of the chapter: it announces that, in the Vana Parva’s Āraṇyaka section, the portion dealing with the Yakṣa conflict and the entry into Gandhamādana has reached the end of the adhyāya, preparing the transition to what follows.
