लोके क्षीणे क्षयं यान्ति भावा लोकप्रवर्तका: । युगक्षयकृता धर्माः प्रार्थनानि विकुर्वते,लोकके क्षीण होनेपर उसके प्रवर्तक भावोंका भी क्षय हो जाता है। युग-क्षयजनित धर्म मनुष्यकी अभीष्ट कामनाओंके विपरीत फल देते हैं

loke kṣīṇe kṣayaṁ yānti bhāvā lokapravartakāḥ | yugakṣayakṛtā dharmāḥ prārthanāni vikurvate ||

世界が衰えるとき、社会を動かす衝動や気質そのものもまた枯れ果てる。そして一つの時代が終末に至ると、その衰亡によって形づくられたダルマの姿は人の願いを歪め、求めるものとは逆の果を与える。
