Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
asmatkṛte ca satataṁ yayā duḥkhāni mādhava | anubhūtāny aduḥkhārhā tāṁ samapṛccher anāmayam ||
The verse highlights dharma as gratitude and care: those who have borne hardship for us—especially parents and elders—deserve active concern for their health and welfare, not mere remembrance.
In Udyoga Parva, as diplomacy and preparations for war unfold, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa and asks him to inquire after the well-being of their mother (Kuntī), emphasizing how she has suffered continuously for the Pāṇḍavas.
