hanta yat te pravakṣyāmi tac chṛṇuṣva samāhitaḥ | ṛṣīṇāṃ devatānāṃ ca sambhavaṃ vasudhātale ||
The verse emphasizes disciplined listening and mental composure (samāhita) as prerequisites for receiving sacred narrative—especially accounts of origins that frame dharma and the moral order of the world.
Vaiśampāyana transitions into an explanatory section, announcing that he will recount the earthly manifestation/origins of ṛṣis and devatās, and instructs the listener to pay focused attention.
