Mahābhārata 12.292
प्रयत्नेन च संसिद्धा धनैरपि विवर्जिता: । सम्यग् हुत्वा हुतवहं मुनयः सिद्धिमागता:
prayatnena ca saṁsiddhā dhanair api vivarjitāḥ | samyag hutvā hutavahaṁ munayaḥ siddhim āgatāḥ ||
パラーシャラは言った。「財がなくとも、聖仙たちは自らの不断の努力によって成就に至った。聖なる火に法にかなって供物を投じ（アグニホートラを修し）、霊的成功を得たのである。」この偈は、規律ある精進と正しいダルマの儀礼が、物質的資源に依らずして達成をもたらすことを示す。
