मनुरुवाच — इन्द्रिय-मनः-ज्ञान-क्रमः

श्रुतास्त्वत्त: कथाश्रैव धर्मयुक्ता महामते । संदेहो5स्ति तु कश्चिन्मे तद्‌ भवान्‌ वक्तुमहति

Transliteration

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |

śrutās tvattaḥ kathāś caiva dharmayuktā mahāmate |

saṃdeho 'sti tu kaścin me tad bhavān vaktum arhati mahāmate ||

bhīṣma uvāca |

śṛṇuṣvāvahito rājan jāpākānāṃ gatiṃ vibho |

yathā gacchanti nirayān anekān puruṣarṣabha ||

Translation

ユディシュティラは言った。「大いなる知者よ、あなたから法（ダルマ）にかなう多くの物語を聞きました。けれども、なお一つの疑いが私の心に残っています。どうかそれをお説きください、賢者よ。」 ビーシュマは言った。「王よ、主よ、心して聞け。ジャパを行う者たちの道と行き先を語ろう——彼らがいかにして種々の地獄に堕ちうるかを、最上の人よ。」
