त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
एक दिन इन्द्रके सम्मानित सखा उदारचेता शत्रुसूदन राजा मान्धाता उनके दर्शनके लिये आये ।।
sopasṛtya tu māndhātā vasuhomaṃ narādhipam | dṛṣṭvā prakṛṣṭatapasaṃ vinato 'gre 'bhyatiṣṭhat ||
ビーシュマは語った。王マーンダータは王仙ヴァスホーマのもとへ赴いた。至高の苦行（タパス）を具えたその姿を見て、マーンダータは謙虚に礼拝し、恭しくその前に立った—真の王権とは霊的修行を尊び、驕りではなく敬意によって教えを求めるものだと示している。
