Vedic ritual action (karma) is presented as a supreme means to attain heavenly merit, and its success is said to depend on proper mantra—highlighting the Veda and mantra as the authoritative foundation for sacrificial efficacy.
Arjuna speaks within the Shanti Parva’s reflective discourse, framing a question/position about the status of Vedic rites: he asserts their excellence as a path to Svarga and notes the traditional view that mantras are what make ritual actions truly effective.
