शकुनि (हिरण्मय-पक्षी) उपदेशः — Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya
मन्त्रो5यं जातकर्मादिर्तब्राह्मणस्य विधीयते । जीवतो5पि यथाकालं श्मशाननिधनादिभि:
mantro ’yaṁ jātakarmādir brāhmaṇasya vidhīyate | jīvato ’pi yathākālaṁ śmaśāna-nidhanādibhiḥ ||
アルジュナは言った。「ブラーフマナには、マントラを伴うサンスカーラが、生誕儀礼ジャータカルマ（jātakarma）をはじめとして定められている。生ある間は、しかるべき浄礼をその時に応じて行うべきであり、死後もまた、火葬場における終儀と、家でのシュラーダ（śrāddha）などの後続の作法を、ヴェーダの規定に従い時宜を得て執り行うべきである。」
