अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
अब्रवीत् तत्र तेजस्वी सोडभिसृत्य जनाधिपम् । दुर्योधनं मन्युवशाद् वाक््यं वाक्यविशारद:
sañjaya uvāca | abravīt tatra tejasvī so 'bhisṛtya janādhipam | duryodhanaṁ manyuvaśād vākyaṁ vākyaviśāradaḥ ||
サञ्जयは言った。「そのとき光輝ある者――弁舌に通じた者――は人の主、ドゥルヨーダナ王のもとへ進み、事の成り行きへの憤りに駆られて、ふさわしい言葉で彼に語りかけた。戦場の荒廃と軍の絶望が落とす倫理の影の中で、この接近は、長老が動揺する統治者を支え、悲嘆と崩落から、彼の理解するところの決意と義務へと引き戻そうとする試みを示している。」
