शल्यस्य पाण्डवसेनापीडनम् — Śalya’s Assault on the Pāṇḍava Host

with Omens and Bhīma’s Counter

sārathiṃ cāsya rājendra śitair vivyadhatuḥ śaraiḥ |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how warfare rapidly expands suffering beyond principal fighters, drawing even essential attendants like charioteers into danger—prompting reflection on the ethical cost of unchecked martial fury.

Sañjaya reports to the king that two brothers (dual verb vivyadhatuḥ) strike their opponent with sharp arrows and also wound his charioteer, indicating an intense exchange in the Kurukṣetra battle.
