अताडयंस्तथाभज्जंस्तथामृदनंश्च॒ भारत । भारत! हाथी हाथियोंपर और बिना सवारके घोड़े घोड़ोंपर आक्रमण करके एक- दूसरेपर चोट करने लगे। उन्होंने अंग-भंग करके एक-दूसरेको रौंद डाला
sañjaya uvāca | atāḍayaṃs tathābhajjaṃs tathā mṛdnantaś ca bhārata |
サンジャヤは言った。「おおバーラタよ、彼らは互いに打ち、砕き、踏みにじり合った。象は象へと突進し、騎手なき馬は馬へと駆け込み、互いを傷つけた。手足は折れ、蹄と足の下で互いを押し潰した――導きを失った獣までもが、破滅の道具であり犠牲ともなる、戦の混沌の光景である。」
