Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā
राज्ञ: संक्रमणे चापि कालो<यं वर्तते ध्रुवम् | तमिमं विद्धि सम्प्राप्तं काल॑ं कालविदां वर,“राजा युधिष्ठिरके भी परलोक-गमनका समय निश्चय ही आ गया है। कालज्ञोंमें श्रेष्ठ मामाजी! यह वही काल प्राप्त हुआ है--ऐसा समझें
rājñaḥ saṅkramaṇe cāpi kālo ’yaṃ vartate dhruvam | tam imaṃ viddhi samprāptaṃ kālaṃ kālavidāṃ vara ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「王の旅立ちにとっても、この時はまさしく到来した。時(カーラ)を知る者のうち最勝の御方よ、この定められた瞬間こそが、いま現前したのだと悟り給え。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the inevitability of Kāla: even a righteous king cannot resist the fixed moment of departure. Ethically, it points toward acceptance, detachment, and readiness to act in harmony with dharma when the appointed time arrives.
Vaiśampāyana indicates that the destined time for the king’s transition from this world has come. The statement frames the approaching end of Yudhiṣṭhira’s earthly reign as a matter of cosmic timing rather than personal choice.
