संछिन्नभिन्नकवचं बाणैश्व विदलीकृतम् । सपुत्र निहतं दृष्टवा कर्ण राजा युधिष्ठिर:
saṁchinna-bhinna-kavacaṁ bāṇaiś ca vidalīkṛtam | sa-putraṁ nihataṁ dṛṣṭvā karṇaṁ rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
ユディシュティラ王は、カルナが討たれたのを見た――鎧は矢に断ち裂かれ砕け、身は無数の矢に貫かれて裂けていた。しかも彼が息子とともに死して横たわるのを見て、王はその光景を幾度も確かめ、ついに疑いなく真実を確信した。そこで王は、戦のこの苛烈な結末をもたらした決定的な力と、ダルマにかなう不動の決意を認め、シュリー・クリシュナとアルジュナの両者を繰り返し称賛し始めた。
