नानावर्णा रथे भान्ति श्व॒सनेन प्रकम्पिता: । रथोंकी ध्वजाओंपर सोने और चाँदीके तारोंसे खचित वस्त्रोंकी बनी हुई शिल्पियोंद्वारा निर्मित बहुरंगी पताकाएँ हवाके झोंकेसे हिलती हुई कैसी शोभा पा रही हैं
nānāvarṇā rathe bhānti śvasanena prakampitāḥ |
サञ्जयは言った。戦車の上には色とりどりの旗が輝く。突風に揺さぶられ、巧みな職人が織り、金銀の糸を織り込んだ多彩なペナントがたなびいて、いよいよ壮麗に見える。この偈は戦の景をいっそう荘厳にし、人の技と王者の華やぎが、血腥い戦務と並び立つことを示す——外の栄光は、内なる危難と法（ダルマ）の緊張に寄り添っている。
