ज्यातलनत्रेषुशब्दांश्न शृणु कर्ण महात्मनाम् | “कर्ण! बाणोंके भाँति-भाँतिके शब्द, मनुष्यों, घोड़ों और रथोंके कोलाहल तथा महामनस्वी वीरोंकी प्रत्यंचा और दस्तानोंके शब्द सुनो
Sañjaya uvāca: jyātalanatreṣuśabdāṃś ca śṛṇu karṇa mahātmanām | karṇa! bāṇānāṃ bhānti-bhāntike śabdān manuṣyāśva-ratha-kolāhalaṃ ca mahāmanasvī-vīrāṇāṃ pratyancā-dastāna-śabdāṃś ca śṛṇu ||
サञ्जयは言った。「聞け、カルナよ。大いなる魂をもつ勇士たちの立てる音を——弓弦の鳴り、護具のはじける音。矢のさまざまな唸りと衝突の響き。さらに人と馬と戦車のどよめき。聞け、この戦場そのものが、苛烈なる戦の務めに踏み入った者たちの決意と武威を告げているのだ。」
