Tripura-destruction exemplum and counsel to Śalya
sutasomasya tat karma dṛṣṭvā śraddheyam adbhutam | rathasthaṃ śakuniṃ yas tu padātiḥ samayodhayat ||
Courage and excellence are not dependent on external advantages (like being chariot-borne); steadfast resolve and honorable effort can inspire admiration even among impartial witnesses, suggesting a dharmic ideal of valor under disadvantage.
Sañjaya describes Sutasoma’s remarkable feat: though fighting on foot, he challenges and battles Śakuni who is positioned on a chariot. Observing this, the assembled warriors and celestial Siddhas are pleased and impressed.
