Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 47 — Abhimanyu’s rapid exchanges, counsel to disable his chariot-system

The verse underscores the stark moral gravity of war: status and lineage do not shield anyone from the consequences of battle. It also reflects kṣatriya-dharma in its hard form—decisive action and courage—while reminding the listener of life’s fragility and the ethical weight borne by warriors.
Sañjaya reports that Abhimanyu strikes Bṛhaddhala, the Kośala ruler and a prince, with an arrow to the heart. The wound is fatal; Bṛhaddhala’s chest is torn and he collapses on the battlefield.
