प्रादुश्षक्रे महामायां राक्षसीं पाण्डुनन्दन: । कर्णको दिव्यास्त्रका संधान करते देख पाण्डवनन्दन घटोत्कचने अपनी राक्षसी महामाया प्रकट की

サンジャヤは言った。パーンドゥの子は、羅刹に由来する大幻術（マハーマーヤー）を顕した。戦のただ中でそれは、常道を超えた手段に訴える徴である――力と欺き、そして欺きへの対抗が戦の道具となり、戦う必然と、正々堂々たる振る舞いという理想とのあいだに、倫理の緊張が高まってゆく。
