द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता
सर्वपाञ्चालसेनाभि: संवृतो रथसत्तम: | नाकम्पत महाबाहु: स्ववीर्य समुपाश्रित:
sarvapāñcālasenābhiḥ saṃvṛto rathasattamaḥ | nākampata mahābāhuḥ svavīryam upāśritaḥ ||
サञ्जयは言った。「パーンチャーラの全軍に四方から囲まれながらも、その最上の車戦士—大いなる腕を持つ英雄—は少しも揺らがず、己が武勇のみに拠って立った。戦の道義的な空気の中で、この詩句は圧倒的な圧力下の不動の堅忍を示す。勇気とは危険の不在ではなく、押し潰されそうな時にも退かず、内なる力と鍛えられた決意によって踏みとどまることなのである。」
