Educational Q&A

Even in war, exploiting an opponent’s misfortune (being made chariotless by fate) and then insulting him is condemned as adharma and ‘anārya’ conduct; righteousness includes restraint and honor toward a fallen or disadvantaged foe.

Sañjaya criticizes a warrior’s behavior: after Bhīmasena is rendered without a chariot due to circumstances beyond his control, the other party speaks cruelly to him. Sañjaya frames this as a serious moral failing and ignoble behavior.
