Duryodhana’s Incursion and the Tumult of Battle
taṁ viddhi puruṣavyāghraṁ sātvataṁ ca mahāratham | sataṁ mahārathaṁ paścād anuyātastavānujam ||
The verse highlights the ethical ideal of steadfast loyalty in battle: an ally of proven valor (Sātyaki) deliberately follows and supports Arjuna, embodying kṣatriya duty through protection of comrades and unwavering commitment amid danger.
Sañjaya informs Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the great warrior Sātyaki—renowned among the Sātvatas—has identified Arjuna’s movement and is riding after him, staying close behind to assist him in the unfolding combat situation.
