Śaineya–Bhūriśravas: Genealogy, Svayaṃvara Contest, and the Maheśvara Boon

As a colophon-style conclusion, the passage does not teach through direct instruction but frames the ethical arc of the war: when leadership is driven by stubbornness and adharma, even powerful figures face reversals. It highlights how individual valor (Sātyaki’s breakthrough) can shift outcomes, yet remains embedded in the larger moral causality of the epic.
The text marks the end of a chapter in the Droṇa Parva, within the Jayadratha-slaying section. It summarizes that after Sātyaki penetrated the Kaurava battle array/army, the chapter’s subject includes the defeat of Duryodhana and Kṛtavarmā, and then formally declares the chapter complete.
