saṁhṛṣṭamanaso vyagrān vidhivat kalpitān rathe | mahādhvajena siṁhena hemakesaramālinā
サンジャヤは言った。「心は昂ぶりながらも、なお専心し警戒を怠らず、彼らは作法どおり戦車に整えられた――獅子を掲げた大旗を備え、黄金の鬣の房の花輪で飾られていた。」
संजय उवाच
Even in the chaos of war, the verse highlights disciplined readiness (vidhivat kalpitān) and focused alertness (vyagrān). It suggests that outward order—proper equipment, clear insignia, and regulated preparation—mirrors inner steadiness, which is ethically significant when actions carry grave consequences.
Sañjaya describes warriors being properly prepared on a chariot distinguished by a great banner with a lion emblem and golden ornamental tassels. The line paints a vivid scene of martial display and readiness immediately surrounding the unfolding combat.
