Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical weight of war: even as warriors fulfill kṣatriya-duty, the wider host becomes a witness to the gravity of violence. The presence of onlookers from both sides underscores that valor is publicly measured, yet the cost is shared across the entire community of combatants.

Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that soldiers from both the Kaurava and Pāṇḍava armies stood watching the fierce duel between Droṇa and Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki), focusing attention on a pivotal clash of eminent champions.
