Shloka 39

(तथा पुनर्जघानाशु पाण्डवानां महारथान्‌ | शरैरशनिकल्पैश्न शिताग्रैश्न सुपर्वभि: ।।

sañjaya uvāca |

tathā punar jaghānāśu pāṇḍavānāṁ mahārathān |

śarair aśanikalpaiś ca śitāgraiś ca suparvabhiḥ ||

サञ्जयは語った。――それからまた彼は、疾風のごとき勢いでパーンダヴァ方の大車戦士たちを打ち据え、雷霆にも似た矢を雨のように浴びせた。矢は鋭い鏃を備え、継ぎ目も堅固で、戦場はまるで鉄の嵐と化したかのようであった。この段は戦の道義的重圧を示す。いかなる剛勇も、容赦なき暴力の前では脆くなり、味方を絶望から救い出す護りの務めは、それを成し得る者に課されるのである。
