गन्धर्वा गीतकुशला नृत्येषु च विशारदा: । रमयन्ति सम तान्‌ विप्रान्‌ यज्ञकर्मान्तरेषु वै

Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: Gandharvā gītakuśalā nṛtyeṣu ca viśāradāḥ | ramayanti sma tān viprān yajñakarmāntareṣu vai ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。ガンダルヴァたちは歌に巧みで舞に達しており、供犠の作法の合間ごとに、そのブラーフマナの祭官たちを楽しませた。かくして、アシュヴァメーダの厳粛な規律のただ中にあっても、芸はダルマにかなう形で用いられた――執礼者を息づかせ、儀礼の整然たる流れを保ちつつ、その神聖を損なわぬために。
