The verse underscores the dharmic value of kinship and companionship: in times of upheaval, people naturally seek their closest relations and trusted friends, emphasizing mutual support, solidarity, and the healing role of community.
Vaiśampāyana describes an assembly or meeting where people arrive paired by their closest relationships—children with parents, spouses together, brothers together, and friends together—setting a scene of collective gathering and reunion.
