Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality
नष्ट देवलके दत्तमप्रतिष्ठं च वार्धुषे । यत्तु वाणिजके दत्तं नेह नामुत्र तद् भवेत्
Bhīṣma uvāca: naṣṭaṁ devalake dattam apratiṣṭhaṁ ca vārdhuṣe | yat tu vāṇijake dattaṁ neha nāmutra tad bhavet ||
ビーシュマは言った。「（とりわけシュラーダの供物のような）施しが、寺院に仕えて生計を立てる者に与えられるなら、それは失われてしまう。高利貸しに与えたものは、確かな果を結ばない。商人に与えたものは、この世にも彼の世にも益をもたらさない。」
