घृतं माल्यं च गन्धांश्व॒ क्षौमाणि च युधिष्ठिर: । चन्दनागुरुमुख्यानि तथा कालीयकान्यपि
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
ghṛtaṁ mālyaṁ ca gandhāṁś ca kṣaumāṇi ca yudhiṣṭhiraḥ |
candanāgurumukhyāni tathā kālīyakāny api ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。クンティーの子ユディシュティラは、ビーシュマの火葬の儀のために、酥油、花鬘、香料、上質の亜麻布、さらに白檀とアガル（沈香）などの最上の芳香物、加えてカーリーヤカ（黒檀香／香膏）を、すでに前もって送っていた――戦のただ中にあってもダルマを守り抜いた長老への、義にかなった敬意と感謝のしるしである。
