तव पुत्रा दुरात्मान: क्रोधलो भपरायणा: । ईर्ष्याभि भूता दुर्वत्तास्तानू न शोचितुमहसि
tava putrā durātmānaḥ krodha-lobha-parāyaṇāḥ | īrṣyābhibhūtā durvṛttās tān na śocitum arhasi ||
ビーシュマは言った。「汝の子らは邪悪な性質であった――怒りと貪欲に身を委ね、嫉妬に呑まれ、行いは堕落していた。ゆえに、彼らのために嘆き悲しむべきではない。」
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma links grief and moral responsibility: when ruin follows sustained anger, greed, jealousy, and misconduct, one should recognize the ethical causes and restrain misplaced lamentation, turning instead toward discernment and dharmic reflection.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs the elders on dharma. Here he addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra, characterizing his sons as dominated by destructive vices and advising him not to mourn them, since their fate is presented as the consequence of their own conduct.
