व्यजयच्छत्रुसंघांश्व देवानां स्वेन तेजसा । अत्रिणा दह्ामानांस्तान् दृष्टवा देवा महासुरान्
vyajayac chatrusaṅghāṁś ca devānāṁ svena tejasā | atriṇā dahyamānāṁs tān dṛṣṭvā devā mahāsurān |
ビーシュマは言った。「自らの霊的な光輝によって、彼は神々の敵の群れを打ち破った。アトリの力に灼かれて大いなるアスラたちが焼かれるのを見て、彼の守護のもと安全を得た神々もまた武勇を奮い、ダイティヤを討ち滅ぼした。かくしてアトリは太陽を再び燦然と輝かせ、神々を危難から救い、アスラを滅亡へと追いやった。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical idea that tapas (disciplined spiritual power) safeguards dharma: a sage’s tejas can neutralize destructive forces, enabling rightful powers (the devas) to act effectively and restore cosmic order.
Atri’s radiance burns the mighty asuras; witnessing them scorched and being protected by Atri, the devas regain strength and courage, then strike down the daityas. Atri is praised for empowering the Sun and rescuing the gods.
