ययातिरुवाच सुरर्िगन्धर्वनरावमानात्‌ क्षयं गता मे यदि शक्र लोका: । इच्छाम्यहं सुरलोकाद्‌ विहीन: सतां मध्ये पतितुं देवराज

Transliteration

yayātir uvāca surarṣi-gandharva-narāvamānāt kṣayaṃ gatā me yadi śakra lokāḥ | icchāmy ahaṃ suralokād vihīnaḥ satāṃ madhye patituṃ devarāja ||

Translation

ヤヤーティは言った。「釈迦（インドラ）よ、もし神々・仙賢・乾闥婆・人々を侮ったがゆえに、我が功徳の世界が尽きたのなら、天界より落ちたのち、我は正しき人々の中へ降り、善き者の群れに身を置きたい。神々の王よ、我を善人の交わりへ落としたまえ。」
