भ्रातृभि: सहितो राजा चतुर्भिरधिकं बभौ । प्रयुज्यमानैर्विततो वेदैरिव महाध्वर:
bhrātṛbhiḥ sahito rājā caturbhir adhikaṃ babhau | prayujyamānair vitato vedair iva mahādhvaraḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。兄弟たちを傍らに従えて、王はなおいっそう輝いた——四つのヴェーダが時宜にかなって用いられ、余すところなく展開されてこそ大祭儀が壮麗となる、そのさまのように。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Legitimate rule and moral authority are enhanced by disciplined cooperation among brothers/companions; harmony under dharma makes leadership radiant, just as a sacrifice becomes splendid when the Vedas are properly applied in their due sequence.
The narrator describes Yudhiṣṭhira’s heightened splendor and stature when he is accompanied by his four brothers, using a simile of a grand Vedic sacrifice flourishing through the well-timed employment of the four Vedas.
