अध्येतारं पर वेदान्‌ प्रयोक्तारं महाध्वरे । रक्षितारं शुभालल्‍लोकान्‌ लेभिरे तं जनाधिपम्‌,प्रजाने महाराज युधिष्ठिरके रूपमें ऐसा राजा पाया था, जो परम ब्रह्म परमात्माका चिन्तन करनेवाला, बड़े-बड़े यज्ञोंमें वेदोंका उपयोग करनेवाला और शुभ लोकोंके संरक्षणमें तत्पर रहनेवाला था

adhyetāraṃ para-vedān prayoktāraṃ mahādhvare | rakṣitāraṃ śubhāṃl lokān lebhire taṃ janādhipam ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。民は人々の主を王として得た——至高のヴェーダを究め、大いなる祭儀においてヴェーダの聖句を適切に用い、吉祥なる諸世界を守護することに常に心を砕く者である。ゆえに王よ、ユディシュティラその人において、至上者を観想し正しき秩序を護る統治者を彼らは見いだしたのである。
