Droṇa’s Ācārya-Dakṣiṇā: Capture of Drupada and Division of Pāñcāla (द्रोण-आचार्यदक्षिणा)
वाहयित्वा कुमारांस्ताञ्जलक्रीडागतांस्तदा । प्रमाणकोट्यां वासार्थी सुष्वापावाप्य तत् स्थलम्
vāhayitvā kumārāṁs tāñ jalakrīḍāgatāṁs tadā | pramāṇakoṭyāṁ vāsārthī suṣvāpa āvāpy tat sthalam ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。水遊びに来ていた少年たちを伴い、休息の場を求めて、彼はプラマーナコーティの家に入り、その一隅に身を横たえて眠りについた。この場面は、休みと宿という日常の欲求が、やがて重大な出来事の端緒となりうることを示し、共に用いる場所では慎みと警戒こそが正しき行いの一部であると諭している。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even routine actions like seeking rest and shelter carry ethical weight: one should be mindful of others and of the consequences that can arise from carelessness in shared or unfamiliar places.
The narrator states that someone brought the boys who had come for water-play, went to the house at Pramāṇakoṭī to rest, and fell asleep there at a particular spot.
