Droṇa’s Ācārya-Dakṣiṇā: Capture of Drupada and Division of Pāñcāla (द्रोण-आचार्यदक्षिणा)
अयं बलवतां श्रेष्ठ: कुन्तीपुत्रो वृकोदर: । मध्यम: पाण्डुपुत्राणां निकृत्या संनिगृह्मुताम्
ayaṃ balavatāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ kuntīputro vṛkodaraḥ | madhyamaḥ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ nikṛtyā saṃnigṛhmūtām |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「このビーマ――クンティーの子、ヴリコーダラと呼ばれる者――は強者のうち最上であり、パーンドゥの子らの中では中子である。欺きによって捕らえ、幽閉すべきだ。」この一句は不義の策を照らし出す。力には正しい手段で対すべきところを、企てる者たちは背信と不法な拘禁を選び、徳ある競争相手に刃を向けるのである。
