apūtodakapāne tu japecca śatapañcakam aghoralakṣaṇaṃ mantraṃ tataḥ śuddhimavāpnuyāt
Suta Goswami (narrating Purāṇic injunctions to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
It teaches that purity for Linga-pūjā is restored through Śiva-mantra japa—specifically the Aghora-associated mantra—so the worshipper becomes fit again for sacred acts.
Śiva appears as Pati in the purificatory aspect of Aghora—removing mala (impurity) and loosening pāśa (bondage) through mantra, restoring the pashu’s ritual and inner śuddhi.
A prāyaścitta based on mantra-japa: 125 repetitions of an Aghora-lakṣaṇa mantra, emphasizing disciplined recitation as a means of purification.
