It situates worship within cosmic time (kāla): aligning vrata, japa, and pūjā with monthly divine presidencies reinforces the devotee’s movement from pasha (bondage) toward the order upheld by Pati (Śiva).
Though naming solar and Vedic deities, the verse reflects Śiva-tattva as the inner governor of cosmic functions (niyantṛ): the many presiding forms operate within a single, overarching divine order ultimately grounded in Mahādeva’s sovereignty.
Time-aligned observance (kāla-niyama): performing disciplined worship and vows according to the month’s presiding power—supporting Pāśupata-style self-regulation of the pashu through niyama and ritually ordered living.
