duścaraṃ vicacāreśaṃ samuddiśya tapaḥ svayam tuṣṭastu tapasā tasya bhavo jñātvā sa vāñchitam
自ら厳しい苦行を引き受け、主に心を定めて困難なるタパスを修した。そのタパスに満悦したバヴァ(シヴァ)は、彼の願意を悟り、求められるものを授けんと備えた。
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It frames the core Linga-Purāṇa principle that sincere tapas with the Lord (Īśa/Śiva) as the sole aim draws Śiva’s anugraha, which culminates in the granting of the devotee’s intended fruit.
Śiva as Bhava is shown as Pati—the conscious Lord who is pleased by disciplined spiritual effort and who directly knows the inner vāñchā (intention) of the pashu (individual seeker) without needing elaborate display.
Severe tapas (austerity) performed with single-pointed intention toward Īśa—aligned with Pāśupata discipline where self-restraint and focused devotion become the means for receiving Śiva’s grace.
