न किञ्चिद् वर्जयेच्छ्राद्धे नियुक्तस्तु द्विजोत्तमः / न मांसं प्रतिषेधेत न चान्यस्यान्नमीक्षयेत्
na kiñcid varjayecchrāddhe niyuktastu dvijottamaḥ / na māṃsaṃ pratiṣedheta na cānyasyānnamīkṣayet
シュラーダに任じられた最上のブラーフマナは、法にかなって供されたものを何一つ退けてはならない。定めの供物であるなら肉を禁じてはならず、また他人の食物を目でうかがってはならない。
Narratorial instruction within the Śrāddha-vidhi section (Kurma Purana’s dharma-teaching voice, traditionally framed through the Purāṇic dialogue).
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Indirectly: it emphasizes disciplined conduct (ācāra) and non-covetousness, which supports inner purity—an essential foundation for steady contemplation of the Self in Purāṇic yoga-dharma.
No specific technique is taught; instead, it stresses yama-like restraints—non-rejection, restraint of desire, and respect for ritual order—ethical disciplines that stabilize the mind for later yogic practice in the Kurma Purana’s broader framework.
It does not name Śiva or Viṣṇu directly; it reflects the Purāṇa’s integrative approach where right ritual conduct and inner restraint are shared dharma foundations supporting devotion and yoga across Shaiva-Vaishnava streams.
